Melanoma rates in New Zealand are on the rise peaking at about 51 cases per 100,000 people from 26 cases per 100,000 people nearly 35 years ago.

Melanoma is one of the most preventable skin cancers. Proper UV protection and limiting the amount of time spent in the sun are two of the easiest forms of prevention.

0800 Sunshade fabricates and installs sun protection products using some of the world’s best fabrics with high UV protection. We pride ourselves in providing schools, businesses, homes and communities with high quality products providing the ultimate weather protection.

Daffodil Day is the Cancer Society’s annual flagship event and one of the most important fundraising and awareness campaigns in the country. This year Daffodil Day is August 26 and 0800 Sunshade is looking to make donations to your local society.

This month (August 2016) when you sign an agreement to purchase a Shade Sail, Shade Structure, Outdoor Screen or Awning, 0800 Sunshade will donate $100 to your local Cancer Society.

According to the New Zealand Cancer Society:

  • 69,000 Kiwis get skin cancer each year
  • On a cloudy day up to 80% of UV radiation can still get through the clouds
  • More than 2000 melanomas are registered each year
  • Skin cancers are primarily caused by too much exposure to UV radiation

Make sure you have adequate shade to protect from harmful UV rays.

Please contact your local 0800 Sunshade licensee for more details and to make a difference today.
