Bigfoot Adventures Ltd has been running successful adventure activities for over ten years. We specialise in 'Education Outside the Classroom' for years 5 to 13 with in-school programmes & camps. We aim to provide safe, fun outdoor experiences for schools, businesses and the general public.

Our school holiday programmes help teens aged over 12 years learn about safe boating and the opportunity to gain qualifications. Choose from three components: Day Skipper (4 days) - an introductory course for all boaties, with the option of adding the practical on-water Day Skipper (2.5 hours); Marine VHF Radio Operator (2 days).

We offer customised programmes for Years 9 - 13, as well as tertiary programmes. These include Geography, Drama, English, Tourism, Photography, Food and Fabric Technology and of course, History - a fabulous insight into New Zealand's past especially the establishment of Auckland as our early capital and the settlement of the whole area.
Primary students love delving into early colonial life in New Zealand through hands-on and interactive role-play experiences. We offer a unique EOTC programme involving the technological advancements and inventions made by the early settlers which include construction and engineering, agriculture, food tech, natural medicines, textiles and fabrics. We show how archaeological discoveries of the Fencible Period have helped us understand the lives that early settlers led.

Kokako Lodge is Auckland's leading EOTC venue. The 85-bed residential camp is situated at the foothills of the Hunua Ranges Regional Park (Auckland's largest park, at around 17,000 ha). Makahika Outdoor Pursuit Centre
The Makahika Outdoor Pursuit Centre is set among the forests and native bush in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges, 1.5 hours from Wellington, or 45 minutes from Palmerston North. We cater for school groups from Year 3 to Year 13.
Makahika writes and designs your school camp programme; provides full Risk Assessment Management System (RAMS), offers a range of accommodation options (up to 140 per group), and provides fantastic fresh catering.
Most importantly we are a registered Adventure Activities Provider subject to annual external audits; all activities are supervised by industry qualified instructors. We develop a programme specific to your group needs, that aligns with your school values and learning outcomes for the year. The skills acquired on camp and programmes are "accumulative"; ensuring you can return yearly.

Historic and Ghost Tours in NZ's Oldest Prison
We can provide 1 hour guided group tours of the prison to suit your age group. Alternatively, we run a 2-hour Junior Programme featuring an historical tour, scavenger hunt, fingerprinting and games. Children can enter the cells, visit the hanging yard and hear about the secret tunnel, ghosts and lighthouse. Seated areas are provided for morning tea or lunch. Excellent for exchange students or students studying other languages are our audio tours in 15 different languages.

New Zealand Walking Access Commission
The New Zealand Walking Access Commission is the Crown entity that works to enhance free, certain, practical and enduring access to the great outdoors. The Commission has created the Both Sides of the Fence education website to assist teachers and students to explore the theme of responsible use of the outdoors. The site features engaging animated scenarios, a student image gallery and a teachers' space with resources supporting the English and Social Sciences learning areas, and EOTC activities. Both Sides of the Fence is designed for years 4-8, but is also appropriate for younger or older students.
