Saint Clair 2010 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

The Saint Clair's Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc consistently shows why the region is recognised as the world's best Sauvignon Blanc producer. Once again, fruit was sourced from a number of vineyards to make this wine, and the fruit came from a number of sub-regions of Marlborough including the Lower Wairau Valley and Rapaura area. Each block was harvested when the fruit achieved maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness. 

Once harvested, the grapes were transported to the winery with haste, then pressed off immediately to minimise skin contact and juice deterioration. After settling, the juice was batch cool fermented using a variety of selected yeasts in 100% stainless steel. Each batch was assessed for quality, with only the best components being incorporated in the final wine. Once blended, the wine was carefully prepared for bottling. 

I found this wine to have wonderfully intense aromas of blackcurrant, passionfruit, gooseberry, and grapefruit. I also found Saint Clair's 2010 Sauvignon Blanc to be a crisp wine with the flavours of blackcurrent, passionfruit and gooseberry being underlined by citrus notes. It is a well balanced wine with a long, lingering finish. 

I would recommend trying the Saint Clair 2010 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with fresh seafood. It is drinking well now and will be at its best within the next two years.
