Vector
Wellington
Orchestra
plays a
vital role
in the
cultural
life of
Wellington
and the
central
region of
New Zealand
performing
to over
100,000
people each
year. For
Season 2009,
we focus on
music that
takes pulse
as its
inspiration.
Whether it
is the
glorious
pulse of
Bach’s High
Baroque, the
tangos of
Argentina,
the sounds
of
Bernstein’s
New York or
the genius
of Duke
Ellington,
each work we
perform has
pulse at its
core.

Pulse
School and
pre-school
concerts
including Baby
Pops and
Circus
Proms continue
to be very
popular and
enthusiastically
received by
teachers,
parents and
students
alike. Government
House is now
closed for
renovations
but the
phones have
been running
hot at the
office of
the Vector
Wellington
Orchestra.
The public
wants to
know if the
wonderful
outdoor
concert
series will
continue -
somewhere -
somehow! The
orchestra,
responding
to these
public
overtures,
will return
in triumph
in 2009 with
the AMI
Summer
Symphony at
the Basin.
It’s the
perfect
place for an
outdoor
concert: a
natural
suntrap
sheltered
from the
southerlies,
with ample
room on its
grassy banks
for people
to spread
their picnic
blankets and
enjoy a
programme of
favourite
classics. Not seen in
Wellington
for over 10
years, the
Vector
Wellington
Orchestra
present the
AMI Last
Night of the
Proms. Join
us for a
late winter
sing along
in true
'Proms'
style. Vector
