Bigfoot Adventures provide a fun, safe and hassle-free total camp management service, arranging all aspects of your school camp from start to finish. We have a wide range of camp location options available throughout the North Island, provide catering, transport to your chosen location and will tailor an activity programme to suit your group and budget
   
Alternatively we offer a unique service which brings the ‘outdoors’ directly to your school grounds or school camp at ANY location within the upper North Island. Our 7.2m mobile rock climbing wall can be set up in any location as well as mountain bikes with a portable skills course and much more…
   
All activities are supervised and run with full instruction by our team of fun, friendly & fully qualified staff who are experienced in working with people of all ages and skill levels, all are First Aid certified. We provide our own well maintained quality equipment for all activities

Blue Heron Holiday Park

Smaller waterfront camp ideal for school groups, sports teams, or retreats. Book the entire park for your group or individual accommodation for a peaceful getaway. We have experience with large groups, and welcome and enjoy the buzz that a group brings! We are flexible, and will do everything possible to accommodate your needs.
We are located in a safe area, right on the beach at the end of a quiet road – no through traffic, no distractions!

Transport to the Blue Heron

  • Well located – 2.5 hours from Auckland, 15 minutes from Whangarei, 1 hour from Paihia;
  • Good vehicle access, with plenty of bus and vehicle parking

Accommodation at the Blue Heron

  • Can accommodate up to 45 in kitchen cabins, bunk rooms and self-contained accommodation, 12 in caravans, and 80+ in waterfront tent sites.
  • Very comfortable self-contained accommodation with separate bedrooms, full kitchen, toilet/basin/shower room, and television.
  • Waterfront powered and unpowered sites for motorhomes, caravans and tents
  • Overflow accommodation for parents and helpers available at nearby B&Bs – close but not too close

Facilities at the Blue Heron

  • Communal kitchen with seating – microwave, stove, sink with hot & cold water, fridge & freezer
  • Waterfront barbecue house with seating – barbecue, sink with hot & cold water, fridge & freezer
  • Two ablutions buildings with separate toilet, basin and shower facilities
  • Dishes, cutlery, utensils available for loan at no charge

  • Boat ramp allows easy access for water sports
  • Beach walks, rock pool exploration, native birds, native bush
  • Dinghy and kayaks available (supervision required)
  • Hall for hire only 5 minutes walk along beach

  • Horse riding and lessons 5 minute drive

Learn to Surf - the ancient sport of Polynesia

On the Tutukaka Coast-Pacific Ocean paradise


Tutukaka Surf Experience is the ‘learn to surf’ division of Tutukaka surf company.

We use soft surfboards and full wetsuits are provided.
Our coaches are internationally certified surf instructors and hold First Aid and Surf Lifesaving Certificates

The Surf in the area is over sand bottomed breaks and we have a choice of beaches to suit the conditions. The sea temperatures vary from 15 degrees mid winter to 20 plus in Summer.

Our goals are to promote fun ,friendship and fitness and respect for Tangaroa (the ocean) and within a couple of hours we’ll have you standing and riding small waves

We can provide plans for 1 to 4 day courses and can arrange for affordable accommodation in the area.
We also provide a course for NCEA Physical Education
