How To Watch The Rugby World Cup by Spiro Zavos

Spiro Zavos is one of New Zealand's top rugby writers. He has been a rugby columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald for nearly 25 years and a contributor to influential sports website The Roar. He has also written eight acclaimed books on rugby including the best-selling 'How To Watch A Game Of Rugby'.

In this book, Zavos examines how New Zealand won the hosting rights for the Rugby World Cup, comparisons between previous winners, trends and team records before going through each pool, explaining who to look out for and why.

After looking at the current world cup and making some predictions, he explores the history of the world cup, giving an analysis of each of the previous tournaments when the Webb Ellis trophy has been on the line. The book ends with a section on how to talk about rugby in New Zealand, explaining some of the jargon, terms and peculiarities of the sport.

How To Watch The Rugby World Cup is an essential guide for anyone who plans to watch the tournament whether they are an avid fan of the game or will be seeing the spectacle for the first time. There is great information for readers to make their own informed predictions, but as the author points out ultimately the tournament is to find out who will win, therefore it is not certain that a particular team will, as All Black fans already know.
