Who would have thought that a branch line linking the farms of
Central Otago to the metropolis of Dunedin and the Port of Otago
would one day be a popular route for cyclists? Thankfully when the
line was closed and torn up, there was enough insight to turn the
route into a rail trail for cyclists. Being a former train line, the
150km journey offers gradients accessible for even relatively
inexperienced riders, spectacular views and some amazing viaducts to
ride across.
