All About New Zealand's Freshwater Wildlife by Dave Gunson

All About New Zealand's Freshwater Wildlife is the latest in Dave Gunson's 'All About' natural history series aimed at children aged between six and nine.

New Zealand is a land of rivers and lakes. With such an abundance of freshwater, it is not surprising that the environment it creates provides a habitat rich in wildlife. There are few children in New Zealand who would find themselves far from fresh water rivers or streams and therefore have the opportunity to discover the birds, insects, fish and other creatures dependant on it.

All About New Zealand's Freshwater Wildlife is a great companion for children exploring those places, enabling them to identify species they find, and answering some on the questions they might have. Dave Gunson introduces around 60 of our most interesting and spectacular water creatures and plants. Each page features one large or two to three smaller illustrations accompanied by text on the relevant species.

Like others in the series, All About New Zealand's Freshwater wildlife is an informative book that will spark and encourage children's' interest in the world around them. Some of the illustrations show some of the creatures and plants in a way that children would have never seen before, but all make it easy to identify a species once they are found.

All About New Zealand’s Seashore by Dave Gunson

All About New Zealand’s Seashore lives up to its name. In this book designed for the six to nine age group, readers will find loads of facts on just about every living thing (or thing that used to be living) that can be found on our sea shore from plants, insects and shellfish to birds, fish and even some strange sea creatures who once dead may have part of their anatomy washed upon the beach.

It will cover just about anything that young (or not so young) inquisitive minds want to know about what they can find or have found on New Zealand’s seashore. The excellent colour illustrations accompanying the text make this not just an interesting and informative but also enjoyable read.

It is the fourth title in New Holland’s ‘All About’ natural history series. Being about the seashore, it is also a book that most New Zealand children can relate to and covers subject matter that most children are interested in. It is a great book for children to read before a field trip to the beach.
