Marty has autism and while it doesn't stop him doing things he can take things literally at things. His only friend, Luke has his problems too and is called legless because of his prosthetic limb.

Marty has trouble reading people, organising things or pleasing his father but he knows that when his mate Luke wants to involve him in another crazy adventure, it is impossible to resist. This time it is the Young Enterprise Scheme that Marty reluctantly says YES to and things soon get bigger and weirder than either of them could have imagined.

The result is a humorous story of misadventure.

Deborah has clearly researched well to give the book the feel it was written by a teenager with autism, although this can make it a bit hard to read in places and requires readers to think about what is actually going on rather than what is just written down. It also deals with a milder autism than that found in many of the fictional works on the subject.

The book surprisingly starts with a short description of crochet, and the chapters follow through with the crochet theme reading like instructions on how to crochet rather than chapters of a novel. It is not immediately clear to readers why this is, but it adds intrigue for the reader.
