Jade and the Hunters by Amy Brown
In the latest episode of Pony Tales, Jade has decided to take home
the worst behaved pony at the show jumping championships. At the
time it seemed a brave decision, but once back in Mr White's
paddock, Jade is too nervous to mount Taniwha and is feeling rather
stupid.
Zoe Death is two years older than Jade, home from boarding school,
and just like Taniwha, intimidating. What is worse is that she has
no trouble riding Taniwha. Jade isn't sure if she is a friend or foe
but she does make a suggestion to help Jade that might just work.
Zoe isn't the only one that gives Jade advice though and nothing has
seemed to work so far.
Jade needs her own confidence back and to do that both her and
Taniwha will have to earn each other's trust. Will this happen, can
Taniwha be a champion? Or are there really some horses to wild to
tame?

Jade's Summer Of Horses by Amy Brown
Jade's Summer of Horses
is the fourth book in Amy Brown's Pony Tales series.
Jade's
summer looks bleak; she has to find a home for Pip, her beautiful
old mare while she has to teach the troublesome Taniwha. Then she
receives some good news. Becca's Aunt Flora has a riding school by
the beach in ocean bay and is looking out for a good beginner's
mount. Pip would be perfect. Even better, Flora offers Jade the
opportunity to come there too and learn endurance riding in return
for helping out around the school.
Of course, Jade jumps at
the chance and to her the riding school is heaven. A developer
thinks it is heaven too, but for different reasons. He is determined
to build luxury houses on the land. Jade must find a way to stop
him.
Just like the previous books in the series, this book
combines adventure, intrigue and horses. It is an English style
equestrian novel for girls with a distinctly New Zealand flavour.
This one however is less about a competition than it is about trying
to stop developers from turning a riding school into apartments. It
is still an excellent read that fans of Pony Tales will enjoy.

Pony Tales:
Jade And The Stray by Amy Brown
Jade has recently lost her mother and grandmother in a car accident.
Her father is in prison, so Jade is forced to leave her home in
Auckland and stay with her father in Flaxton, a fictional rural town
on the East Coast of the North Island. On her first night in Flaxton,
Jade steals a stray pony from the pound. She has no practical
experience with horses and no paddock to keep it in
As luck would have it though, a generous local offers land for the
stray to graze on and teaches Jade to ride. The dedication and hard
work necessary to look after the horse provides the distraction Jade
needs to take her mind off the family tragedy. Will she be able to
compete in the Flaxton show though?
Without even looking at the back cover, readers will probably be
able to tell that this book is the first in a series about Jade. It
is also in the fashion of the classic English pony books but with a
distinctly New Zealand flavour. It is also obvious that the book’s
writer has a passion for horses. It is a novel that girls who love
stories of ponies and girls will enjoy.
