"Chocolate" Easter Bunny and "Eggs" in Basket
Materials:
Sculpey III in the
following colors:
- Chocolate 053-1/4
package
- White 001-1/4
package
- Light blue pearl
1103- 1/16 package
- Yellow 072-large
pinch
- Green 022 - large
pinch
- Lavender 312-1/16
package
- Pink pearl
1102-1/16 package
- Miniature (2 1/2
inch diameter) Easter basket (available at craft stores)
- 1/4 cup excelsior
or coloured "Easter Grass"
- needle tool or
toothpick
- two 3 mm black
beads with no holes
- oven set to bake
reliably at 130 degrees Celcius
- bake dish, cookie
sheet, or ceramic tile
- 1 sheet baking
parchment, copy paper, or index card
Directions:
- Gather your clay
in amounts described. OPTIONAL: If you desire light yellow and
light green Easter eggs instead of bright yellow and green ones,
divide the 1/4 package of white in half, and mix with the
pinches of yellow and green (separately) to make pastel yellow
and pastel green.
- Divide the
chocolate-coloured Sculpey into one larger ball, two
medium-sized balls, and two tiny balls as shown.
- Roll the large
ball into the shape shown.
- Use needle tool to
press a vertical line into the thin end of the shape.
- Press two largest
balls into flat teardrop shapes, and curve the small end into an
"L" shape.
- Press the fat
rounded ends to the bunny's lower body as shown. Shape the two
smaller balls into rounded teardrop shapes. Press them both
side-by-side to the bunny's tummy between the two hind legs.!
- Press the last
ball onto the bunny's rear, for his tail.
- Use a toothpick or
needle tool to press toes into the fronts of the bunny's four
feet.
- Roll two small
pink balls for eyes, and a smaller one for the nose. Press on
his face as shown.
- Press the 3 mm
black beads into the middle of each pink eye.
- Flatten a small
piece of lilac clay into a rectangle.
- Press the
rectangle in towards the middle, so it forms a "bow tie" Press
onto the bunny's neck, and add a small round flat ball in the
middle as a knot for the tie.
- Make two small
snake shapes out of the lilac and press on the top of each
eyeball for his eyelids.
- Shape and flatten
two pink teardrops for the bunny's inner ears.
- Press each one to
the middle of each ear, pointed side down.
- Roll several small
balls of clay, and point them at each end slightly to form eggs.
Make sure to make at least two of each color.
- Bake all at 130
degrees for 1/2 hour on a cookie sheet lined with baking
parchment or white, unprinted copy paper. Remove from oven, and
allow cooling to room temperature. Arrange bunny amongst his
eggs in the tiny basket with some coloured Easter grass or
excelsior!
